Infinite Game of Poverty Alleviation (IGPA) and Accumulation of Environmental and Socio-Cultural Capital

Although poverty alleviation has become an infinite game globally since the late 1940s, Sri Lanka not identified as issue until recently. The socio-welfare-based economic policies and continuous election-centered programs push country into IGPA, even though is accumulated with plentiful natural socio-cultural resources. Consequently, struggles severe crises political chaos, worsening which been adequately addressed in prevailing academic literature. This study attempts to fill this void by adopting social-constructivism approach. Nine semi-structured interviews three focus group discussions were conducted, plus direct observation of rural landscape Lanka. Findings indicate IGPA influential determining factor deciding potential ruling government, every government included their manifesto under different titles. However, disintegration between sustainable capitalization led nation be retained IGPA.
